Synopsis
Learn how to use spreadsheets to store and analyze information into
columns and rows. Find out how to sort a list of names and numbers, use
basic formulas and create a family budget.

- Open a document
- Easiest: Double-click on the file.
- Launch SS; Then click File > Open.
- Print a document
- Click File > Print.
- or, press Ctrl+P.
- Create a document
- Navigation
- Cells
- Column headers are lettered
- Row headers are numbered
- Current Cell name/address box is upper-left
- Formula Bar is upper-center
- Editing a cell
- Use the arrow keys or click on the cell
- Start typing
- Press Enter to finish, or Tab to advance
- Selecting multiple
cells
- Click and drag from start cell to end cell
- Autofill
- Used to continue a list such as Numbers, Days, Months, Dates
- Hover over the lower right corner of the cell
- The cursor will change to a +
- Click and drag down or right
- First Formula: Sum
- Select a vertical group of numerical cells
- Click the Auto-sum (sigma) Σ button
- The total of all numbers appears below the group
- The formula bar now shows "=SUM(A1:A15)"
- Sorting
- Select a vertical or rectangular group of cells
- Click on the Sort ascending button
- Or, click Data > Sort...
- Selecting a column
- Click the column header
- Right-click to see advanced options
- For example, format numbers as currency
- Same procedure also works for rows
- Resizing a column
- Hover over the line between two column headers
- The cursor will change to a ↔
- Click and drag left or right
- Double-click the separator line to auto-size
